Privacy Policy
Medal Extractor is a non-commercial hobby project. It extracts direct video links from public Medal.tv clip URLs. We try to process as little personal data as technically possible, and we do not use any analytics, advertising or tracking.
Controller & contact
Contact details are configured by the site operator. (No production contact details have been configured for this deployment yet.)
What data is processed
- Server access data. When you load a page or call the API, the server and the hosting/CDN provider may process technical data such as your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested URL, your user agent and — where the browser sends it — the referrer. This also covers error logs and security logs.
- Data you submit to the tool. The Medal.tv clip URL and the quality option you enter are sent to our
/api/extractroute so it can perform the extraction you requested. These are processed transiently to answer the request and are not written to a database. - Abuse prevention. Your IP address is held briefly in volatile server memory for rate limiting (basic abuse protection). It is not persisted and expires automatically.
- Cookies / local storage. This project sets no cookies and uses no local storage, no session state, no logins and no theme/language persistence.
- Third-party calls. To extract a clip, the server requests public pages from Medal.tv (
medal.tv). The hosting, edge and CDN provider depends on the deployment configuration (for example Cloudflare, Netlify or Vercel).
Legal basis
Under the GDPR (Germany / EU), processing is based on:
- Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in operating the site securely and reliably, including access logging and rate limiting for abuse prevention and debugging.
- Art. 6(1)(b) / (f) — performing the requested function when you intentionally submit a clip URL for extraction.
- Art. 6(1)(a) — consent would only apply to optional analytics, tracking, marketing cookies or non-essential third-party embeds. This project uses none of those, so no consent is requested and no cookie banner is shown.
Retention
Submitted clip URLs are processed in memory only to fulfil the request and are not stored. IP addresses used for rate limiting live in volatile memory and expire automatically. Server, security and hosting/CDN logs are kept only as long as needed for operation, security and debugging, and are then deleted according to the hosting provider’s own retention. This project does not run an analytics database or its own long-term log store.
Recipients / providers
- Hosting / edge / CDN provider — depending on the deployment configuration (for example Cloudflare, Netlify or Vercel), which processes access and security logs on our behalf.
- Medal.tv — the upstream service whose public clip pages are fetched to perform an extraction.
We do not use analytics or advertising providers, and we do not sell or share personal data with data brokers.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability regarding your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, use the contact details above.
Cookies & consent
This project only performs technically necessary processing and sets no cookies. Because there are no non-essential cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or marketing tools, no cookie consent banner is shown.
